---BEGIN TRANSCRIPT---
Adaline Guerra: Hello! Welcome to "DChat." This preface may be updated as time goes on.
In "DChat," you will find a collection of "vignettes" (small writings, written like normal stories) and "chats" (written like what you are reading now) that, together, tell the stories of a lot of different people.
Everything is displayed in chronological order, and still being updated. So, if there's gaps in the story, they will be filled in eventually. Fair warning, I like to go back and expand on random points so my updates may not be chronological. But, the display order will always be.
This story is best read by point of view. Use the Library List filtering system to view DChat as a specific character.
Anyways, I'd classify this story as lots of things. Horror, slice of life, drama, thriller, crime, metafiction, weird. A large part of the horror, I'd say, is the harrowing banality of the types of people around us in the modern day. They do terrible things, push boundaries negatively, disrespect others, disrespect themselves, harm (or kill) others, harm themselves etc.
Let's all strive to NOT be like them.
The other part of the horror: normal people keep getting affected by others' actions as well as the meaningless noise of existence. And sometimes the horror is ghosts, demons, gore, and fantastical situations.
It is a rather mixed bag because there are so many characters involved. I used to have this story split into two halves, "Lighted" and "Shaded," but I found it limiting. It functions better on a point of view basis.
Admittedly, when I started this monster of a project, it was for fun. I thought to myself, "What would it be like if I put all of my characters into a chat room together? It'd probably be absolute chaos." I showed my scribblings to a few friends and received positive feedback. And then I thought, "I'm not getting any younger and I have always wanted to be public with something creative." But, I could never figure out exactly WHAT I wanted to create.
Until now.
Thus, DChat happened.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, that's okay. On with you to other corners of the web. If you do enjoy it, please spread the word!
Now, without further ado. Are you ready? Let's boot up DChat...
